JP, nice call on volatility potentially increasing. got a decent vix trade.

I still dont understand why you dont do options on higher priced equities like amazon, google, tesla, fb.

Still learning Options, not as comfortable as yet to go live. Good job on the VIX trade.

Trading options is a volatility trade. Professionals trade volatility not the direction of the underlying. Most folks who trade directional options lose their shorts.

Its been a 'tough' year for options traders because the direction has been one direction. But even then I've been short the market all year and up about 13% overall net liq or 26% of margin used. But I trade volatility mostly and not typically directional. I'll admit and to good reason, the less delta short I was the more I made but then that takes away from my short vega. Continual learn process.

This year has been decent for swing trading futures though I've had my ups and downs. But at least those markets have been two sided.

i'm short puts on TEVA and bought 1000 shares this morning also ... not down too much on the $14 puts but my plan is to keep rolling them out monthly until they expire worthless ...

hard to see how TEVA won't recover ... seems to me that there should be institutional buying by value funds soon which should be a tailwind as it often takes along time to acquire significant positions ... i guess the key is knowing when that institutional buying begins ....
