3/7/2017 1:35:02 PM Rolled out of XIV too soon. Given the size of the trade I did not want to get caught by surprise while on vacation, but even with the market dropping almost every day XIV continues to gain. I now plan to wait until after the March Fed meeting and re-enter this trade at the same dollar value as long as the contango level for the VIX is above 5% and it is also above the contango level for VXV. Roll yield must also be above 5% for all primary signals to be green. I'm sure some d-bag will try to claim credit for this strategy as well. |

3/7/2017 8:38:36 PM @mankoh: three of my four accounts are long-only with Fidelity. Therefore I tend to trade long XIV rather than short TVIX or UVXY. My Interactive Brokers account lets me do either - that is the account I use to short 3x ETFs and other stocks. I'll be keeping my eye on contango levels following the FOMC announcement next week. |
