I am working building a swing trading method...one of the things I recently read by Phil Erlanger is a short squeeze play.
EX. Take 2 stocks all things being = both making a bullish move, the one with big short intrest will run higher as the shorts cover.
He recomends it as a reversal play, buy the dips as the short intrest gets higher.
Now that I know what the hell it means....and we are seeing some kind of crazy O'bama rally....a lot of bears might get "caught short" as the saying goes and it could be a good opening to make a dime.
The light is starting to come on.....this is the essence of a bear market rally....
I found a web site shortsqueeze.com, you can enter any stock and check out the short intrest, I would think most vets check this out, as part of their pre trade check list.
I have a few questions, is there a way to chart the short intrest, I know not on SF. On the Fidelty site I can scan for short intrest levels, it also gives a %change from last month, but that seems pretty basic, although it would yeild a stock list to run other scans on.
NFLX has a lot of short intrest and just made a big pop today on option exp. the short ratio or days to cover is 13.8 which is high.
Although I missed the start of the rally. there could be a few scraps left, now if the S&P could make it over 850....

I remember trading NFLX at $10 a few years back. Walmart was suppose to put them out of business with online video...it doesn't pay to listen to them talking heads.
