3/12/2005 10:29:34 AM Since SF doesn't offer real time Technical Indicator Alerts I did a little research. There may be more and hope that others add to the discussion. My main desire was the ability that if certain parameters were met an audio alarm would start, then I could either enter the trade manually or go ahead and have the order placed. Here is what I found. http://www.crontech.com STOCK WATCH PRO $40/mn + e-signal basic $79/mn or yr/$49/mn neat alert wizard. http://www.tradestation.com/strategy_testing/crts_indicator.shtm RadarScreen must open an account w/ them Platform cost $100/mn, $3/mn for Exchanges, & $9/mn for Level2/mn. http://www.tracktrade.com/ monthly software fee for TrackTrade is $99 + $12/mn Exchange fees Custom real-time alerts based upon technical indicators. Tried to setup a chart in their demo, but couldn’t figure out how. 3/13/2005 8:56:40 AM scvidar, Check out Trade-Ideas.com. For $45/mo they provide a huge set of criteria and paramenters that can be set up for real-time alerts. In fact, if you aren't judicious in how you set up your alerts, it will drive you nuts during trading hours. It is browser-based, so there is no requirement for a third party data vendor. The site has tutorials that can be accessed by non-subscribers. Take a look at those and then subscribe to the free trial to better evaluate its functions. I am simply a subscriber and have no affiliation with the company, but I can attest to its awesome capabilities. Karl |

3/13/2005 12:04:12 PM Hi, I have tried them all. None of them work. Erlanger is the lamest of them all. Anything tied to Qcharts is hopeless. Esignal has terminal problems to do symbol limit. The best intraday scanner available is the Radarscreen module with Tradestation. It actually works!! Don't waste your time with those others. John |

3/13/2005 12:34:29 PM I use RT eSignal. While it does have a 200 symbol limit, in actual use, this doesn't create any problems. I've used it for over 10 yrs. I get a short list of qualified candidates from StockFetcher each day well under this 200 limit....No problemo. eSignal does link directly to a broker, but I prefer to enter STOP LIMIT orders at MOO. 3/14/2005 11:16:33 AM I'm kinda thorough and I've used a bunch of them. I think (if my recollection is not screwy) that DTN has a super fast satellite that delivers the entire market. Their sales guy gave me the low down on it when I bellyached about the problems referenced by all you guys (I was on their DTN standard product at the time). He told me it was an all inclusive package and that it pretty much put day traders on equal footing with the institutional guys because it would let me run real "real-time" scans of any kind of event (all kinds of alerts & so on)my heart could want. I will be moving this summer so I'm waiting until I get moved because the service is a hardware satellite dish and I think it poor planning to install and then move and then re-install in only a month or so. Anyway, I use AIQ right now on myTrack and it has no limitation. I plan to do both (DTN satellite & AIQ... two separate comupters... redundancy & all that) later this summer, after I move. Right now, AIQ real time with no limitations as regards number of symbols. AIQ is one of those old players that many of us remember as an EOD service but it is actually real-time and it is pretty robust. SF has been a real godsend in narrowing down the selection, but now it is time to switch from backtesting to real money. I only need to follow 1-3 stocks with the alert mechanism. I realize that the $160/mn it costs sounds high, but it's not when I consider the results of some of my screens, broken down to entry points based on the 30 minute bars. |

3/25/2005 2:27:58 PM Has anyone used Realtick? It seems alot easier to input alerts based on technical analysis than the Tradestation products. I am NOT a programming expert and Tradestation seems very difficult to setup. |

3/26/2005 11:39:02 AM scvidar, I'm unclear about what you mean by technical alerts. I'm a TradeStation customer and agree that it is possible to set up alerts on many technical indicators. There are also many more to choose from than I saw in the RealTick demo. Some TS alerts need some programming modification, others don't. If you could explain what kind of alerts you would like to see, perhaps we can better advise. Karl |

3/26/2005 5:06:39 PM I am still trying to decide which software platform/package alert/alarm screen to purchase that will give me an audible alarm when the technical indicator parameters I want have happened in real time. It has to be easy to program those parameters or at least it has to have a easy step by step process that is easy to follow so as to program it. Some seem they are basically written in basic english, others have computer language terms that I find difficult to understand, and I am an engineer. Tradestation while will do everything I want along with Radarsceen, looks VERY difficult to program. While that may not be so, maybe the toolkit makes it easier than the samples I've seen. I don't have a problem spending the money for such a system, I just want it to be easy to use or program. The technical indicator is one that has been around along time. RSI or Williams%R. I believe in keeping things simple. |
