This is ridiculous.
For peeps who just want to "buy & hold", there's nothing.
There's no correction, so, you can't buy cheap.
Another trap to buy high and then try to sell higher.
Makes no sense.

Yeap!! Go for penny stocks. Look for the long term flats that have a spike history. Also, VXX and TVIX counters the S&P. In simpler terms, VXX goes up when the S&P goes down. That’s what I do on expensive days

I know what you mean. Buffett is rumored to have stockpiled cash to buy at lower prices.
But did you have a watchlist in mind when you "griped"?
Buy and Hold may mean different things to different people.
With your knowledge of macro-economics, you've probably done very well buying and holding tech stocks,
which would appropriate for expansion cycle.
Plus, it is said that women preferred holding techs, and men prefer holding financials.
Of course, there are other Buy and Hold folks, e.g. the Dogs of the Dow crowd.

Best wishes with your trading in the new year 2020

IF that story is true, Buffet will be sitting on his cash a lonnnnng time.
There will be NO correction like we had this time last year.

Some Buy and Hold folks may not need a correction to buy cheap, e,.g. Dogs of the Dow

"bottom" SP500
Well, they're at the bottom cause they suck.
Too bad you can't just type SP500 in SF and get the list. (i.e., symlist(SP500)
I'm not gonna type all 507 manually!
Some SP500 cheapies at the bottom .. all a bunch of sh*+.

Garbage! The crap in my kitty litter box is worth more!
My old portfolio went up six figures because I had the cream of the crop.

Fair enough, it was not my intention to irk you.
Cream on the crop and buying deep value on the rise both have their place in investing.

@ Cheese,
YOU didn't "irk" me.
If you had your old spreadsheet of stocks from a year ago, and glanced at it on whim, and saw a six figure gain on a portfolio you sold 2 months prior to the rebound, you might be "irked" too.

karennma,
David Larew is one of the top 3 authors on StockCharts public chartlist.
He used to have this very telling chart about SP500 bull and bear market cycles.
FRIENDLY SUGGESTION: I know you may be a raging bull but you may want to spend a minute
to see the different durations, rising and declining accelerations of the two cycles.
The Middle East could be a real party pooper
This is the only link I could find to a copy of David Larew's now removed chart:
https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fpbs.twimg.com%2Fmedia%2FCrWEx1_UAAU3ivo.jpg&f=1&nofb=1
Also, LAS liked to say the crowded trade is rarely a good thing.
Again, best wishes on your trades.
