RONUN ... you read the book "Dynamic Trading Indicators." ... so I was hoping you could enlighten us on how to use this indicator in a filter. Or perhaps perhaps to point to entry or exits on a stock in your watch list ? ... ie...when the 10 MA crosses above it then BUY ... crosses below it SELL ????

(oops ...I originally addressed this to Kevin_in_GA .... meant to be asking RONUN)

 Cacher:

My comment was based on the fact that all this does is generate a line on your chart - not a screen per se. I get 3800 stocks that come up - not all that helpful unless used in combination with other strategies.

How does ronun intend to use this? What edge would this provide to traders? That is what I was getting at.

 Kevin ...yah, definately an indicator.

...but use it with a moving average cross-over and a good filter is born ... so I threw this as a quick possibility ... and I must say ... withing the recent rally it is performing well.

The equations described in "Dynamic Trading Indicators" convert the daily price range into a normal distribution (bell curve)of daily stock prices. Not an easy read, in my opinion. This enables a trader to observe when price reaches 2 or 3 sigma price extremes. I expect to use this to confirm MACD/price divergence.

This wil describe the basics of the book although no figures are included:

I believe you need the book to dig out the details but the esentials are there.

Apparently StockFetcher doesn't accept hyperlinks so you'll have to copy and paste. Sorry

THIS IS THE SAME IDEA AS ELDER'S BULL/BEAR POWER INDICATOR. HE LIKED USING THE EMA(13) AS THE MIDRANGE.

Looks interesting ... but I get this :

Your StockFetcher filter exceeds filter performance restrictions.

To run this filter, please upgrade to the StockFetcher Advanced subscription level.

 ...ouch.
