RIMM Effective volume was intersting one. It showed large sell off in the last two days which could have predicted the major drop today.
I guess this method would have been more useful two days ago. RIMM 70 Oct puts went up by 400% today from yesterday.

1. I think this Effective Volume strategy is unique enough to warrant your starting a new thread dedicated to it.
2. Would you not simply be able to use End-of-Day values to get the same curve? Is that possible? Now that would be a great SF technical indicator!

Kevin,
You are probably aware of this but the (9,2) BB strategy on the VIX has closed above the upper band the last two days ... as you pointed out ... this has been 88% correct in predicting the movement of the SPY. For the record, I added alot of long positions yesterday and doubled up today. Usually there is a month end markup (positive bias) which coincides with next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. So here's hoping for the best.

I jumped in on RIMM today at the close - in at $68.84. This is a value at this price, so I did not wait for the hollow candle confirmation.
In on ICON at $15.57 after confirmation today.
In on ALLI at $6.10 after confirmation today.
Still waiting on CRGN to bottom (should happen just before the 30th when they finalize the merger with CLDX).

Kevin,
Thank you very much for all the work you have done to promote a dialogue regarding your trading strategy. I look forward to implementing your techniques and keeping a close eye on the posts in this thread.
I have added some display lines to your filter so that I could have a clearer picture of what is taking place on the charts. I thought I would share them for the sake of those who are not very familiar with the display possibilities on StockFetcher.
Do not draw Bollinger (20,2)
Do not draw MA(20)
Draw MA(16)
chart-time 90-days
add column sector
add column industry
The first two lines eliminate the default BB (20,2), leaving only your BB (16,2.5). The third line adds a midline to the BB (16,2.5). I altered the default chart-time so that I can manually backtest three months and see what the candles are doing. Though the sector and industry categories are not always consistent with the IBD categories, I do like to have a quick reference to the industry of a stock.
Thanks again,
Bill

Burns1971:
Thanks for the feedback. I update the stocks and the overall portfolio performance every night on the first post in this thread, so you can easily see how this strategy performs as time goes by.
As for drawing indicators, I do the following:
go to SETTINGS and add the following indicators:
1. Draw Bollinger Bands(16,2.5)
2. Draw Bollinger Bands(16,0)
3. Draw RSI(2)
4. Draw average volume(50)
Include others if you want - I use only these at the moment.
Save settings. That way, every chart you look at will automatically have these indicators drawn.
I personally set the chart time at 1 month, since 3,6,12,and 24 months are defaults.

Sure thing. Glad others are interested in this, and following closely enough to keep me dedicated to the strategy - you can't really cheat when people are watching.
